A vicar is for life, not just Christmas

Picture
The process to find a successor to Nick has started.  Archdeacon Simon Heathfield and Area Dean Louise Shaw (who is preaching today - Sunday 28 February) have briefed the church councils of Coleshill and Maxstoke about the way forward.

There was freezing weather  but a very warm farewell for Nick the Vic on his last day of ministry in Coleshill on Valentine's Day.

After nearly 16 years here, Nick has left to become Area Dean of Yardley and Solihull.
Giving a message from the churchwardens on behalf all, Debbie Leary seized the moment when she turned to Nick and reminded him: "A vicar is for life, not just Christmas".

Nick and his family have promi
sed to return when restrictions are lifted for a special service after which we will have the opportunity to thank him for his ministry.   In the coming months all services, including funerals (and baptism and weddings when they can take place) will be led by visiting clergy and lay ministers until a new vicar is appointed.

Nick and family will continue to live in Coleshill until they move home. "I am glad to stop and chat, so please don't avoid us," he told the Sunday Paper.

The service is available on line.  Click the Facebook icon below to view it.
